Two years ago, an old friend of mine told me that he had a personal blog. I didn’t know what was that. Then he showed me his personal website, it didn’t contain a lot of things, a couple of pictures he made and his profile.
He told me to create a blog, just like his. At the beginning I didn’t know what to write, I didn’t even know about the concept of a blog. Now I don’t even remember what my first posting talked about…
So I decided to write about my memory of childhood, the neighbourhood where I grew up, what we did, what we bought in warungs ,what we played, all things that I could still remember - I found that this is important to write.
And bit y bit somehow I found a pleasure of writing and I encouraged everyone to write.
I started writing about my adventure, travels, my dreams, then continue writing about my ideas of life and it sorrounding.
At that moment, I considered my blog as something personal. Only a few friends read it, hesitated in leaving any comment.
When I told them to create a blog, they said, “no thanks, I’d rather keep my personal life out of public interest”.
Now I think that’s a mistake, as my blog grew up, I hardly write about myself or my personal problem there. Blog is not limited to write about your personal life, you can write about your ideas, stories, travels, lessons, photographs, anything.
I love writing, I realized that I wrote a lot when I was in SMP, stupid things, poets - of course, that was about my first love (I’m glad in the past we didn’t have blog, because I assure you that my blog would be merely full of cheap poets about first love, yak!)
But now by writing in blog, I convert a story, memory, anything to something nice to read, I can laugh about myself and be so ironic, but again, it has to be pleasant to read (I’m not showing off about my talent of writing).
Until now I am still writing for pleasure. I got my readers (mostly people that look up in google words such as: selingkuh, homoseksual, efek rumah kaca, etc.), but I write not to please anyone.
I write what I want to write, but that doesn’t mean that this blog merely contains personal things, I try to write interesting issues, so anyone can share his/her ideas.
My language is simple, just like myself.
After along time of blogging, I was also experimenting a different kind of writing style, I wrote some pieces of fiction story. This is about to write something far beyond your personal experience.
Let say that you are an actrees, your director said that you have to play a scene that implys having sexual relationship, because your role is a prostitute. Will you able to play that role? are you really an actrees? or you just a cute blondy girl trying to be a famous star?
So for me this blog helps me to develop my writing and capture my imagination on spot. How deep I can write about sex, dirty things, evil inspiration, anything far from your caracter, your life.
This blog is also a reflect of my mind, my brain. I can fall in thinking of something in the dull subway and automatically says, this is what I want to write in my blog.
Another use of blog is to rewrite books that you’ve read, films you’ve seen, it’s kind of filing, although not all books and films commented in my blog, only ones that impress me.
So, what does your blog mean to you? who do you write for? do you write to please your readers? do you write to increase your visitors? do you try to improve your writing? do you have any desire to be famous/important by writing in blog?
Up to now, I’ve had written 370 postings, and I regret that most of it went in to “general” category (in my case: asem, manis, asin). I don’t remember most of them, some are funny stories. My advise, try to put your post in a clear category (if you have), in this case when you try to look up an old post and don’t remember the tittle, at least you remember what was it about, then you look it up by post category.
To sum up this unimportant posting, this blog is just a personal blog talking about impersonal but interesting issues (I guess) to share with anyone.
